Some of the largest animals on the planet eat some of the smallest animals on the planet. The large animals are whales. The small animals are Krill. Krill are shrimp-like crustaceans that travel the ocean in huge numbers. They are only 2 inches long. When a Blue Whale dives into a swarm of Krill and gulps a mouthful, it swallows enough Krill to fill a school bus. Krill are also eaten by fish, squid, seals and seabirds like the albatross and penguin. Krill feed on Phytoplankton. |
